Meeting Deputy Director, Chiyo Ishikawa of the Seattle Art Museum (SAM), was a glimpse into the mysterious world of how art museums work. It requires extensive research on the subject, a team of curatorial experts, and taking into account how you want the visitor to feel.

As someone who contributes to the cultural vitality of Seattle, we received a chance to view her latest exhibition on fashion designer, Yves Saint Laurent. We got to learn about Laurent’s work and dive deeper into the designer's story through the visually dynamic exhibition Chiyo helped bring to SAM.

BUNCH:
What makes YSL a daring creative to you?

Chiyo:
He was daring because he brought men's working clothes into the world of high fashion and turned them into luxury garments for women.

If you’re in Seattle, check out the YSL exhibit at SAM until Jan 8, 2017 or watch his amazing documentary now on Netflix.
