Nowadays many graphic designers get by without ever actually touching pencil to paper. For that reason, it’s a relief to see those toting the title with some old school artistic integrity. Enter San Francisco’s Julia Kostreva, a graphic artist and creative director of her own line of home goods and accessories. While the former Maryland Institute College of Art student has an educational background specifically in graphic design and printmaking, Kostreva’s designs also make use of her skills in photography, painting, and drawing — which has created a hallmark handmade aesthetic. Whether its creating packaging lovely enough to honor the handmade soaps it adorns, or designing her own line of daily planners, calendars, and iphone cases, Julia makes sure everything she attaches her name to is minimal but inspired, and distinctly her own.
