Letter from our Founder, Former Publisher, and Editor-in-Chief, Lizzy Okoro
Over the past 6 years, BUNCH has evolved into so much more than a magazine.
I started it in my small apartment in New York City, born out of my admiration for this wild, crazy, happy, passionate and successful bunch of people I was interacting with. They were creative. They were merging their passions with their professions. They were radical. And I knew I had to tell their story. Initially, I thought we would simply spotlight these creatives. Eventually, I would come to realize that you, our audience, would want tools so you could write your own success stories. The result, a destination for creatives to be inspired while accessing sound business advice. More importantly, BUNCH became the cheerleader in your corner, telling you that you can do it when no one else understands.
Since 2011, we’ve had countless interviews, events, partnerships, you name it. Here we are today, growing and changing. Evolving is hard to do but it has to be done. It’s time for a new chapter, heck, maybe even a new book. Changes are coming to BUNCH and I hope that you’ll stick around to see what they are.
We want to meet you where you’re at: in the digital space. Whether that’s on your phone or on your computer, we’ll be bringing you more content, quicker. For those of you who still love the feel of paper, don’t worry, we’re keeping our print issue and we think it will be pretty darn special when it comes out annually.
If you’re committed–or just curious–I encourage you to follow along on Instagram and sign up for our email alerts so that you don’t miss a beat. You can check out our updated masthead to see what changes have been made. As for me, I’ll be exiting this phase of my career to enter a new one which means that I will step down as Publisher and Editor-in-Chief. You’re welcome to keep up with my journey here.
I was recently asked, “What is my why?” It’s taken me all 6 years of working at BUNCH to realize that it's helping people realize their dreams. To wake up each and every day and know that I’ve taken an idea and turned it into a reality is a joy I can’t describe. Each time we publish a story, my hope is that you, too, are inspired and encouraged to find your joy and celebrate your why.
